Iran: support the construction of Marxist-Leninist-Maoist parties as leaders of the popular revolution !

Solidarity with the oppressed masses of Iran!

Unmask the intstrumentalisation of revolt by imperialism!

Support the construction of Marxist-Leninist-Maoist parties as leaders of the popular revolution !

Protests in Iran caused by the death of the young Jina Mahsa Amini at the hands of the reactionary Islamic Republic continue. The problem of the veil and the oppressive conditions to which women are subjected is only the tip of the iceberg made of repression, poverty and economic deprivation for the great majority of the Iranian population.

Some sectors of the comprador bourgeoisie, in league with US imperialism, are trying to instrumentalize the rebellion of the masses to promote a change of government more favourable to their interests. That is why this rebellion enjoys extreme media visibility all over the world.

This doesn’t mean that there is no real mass base in the discontent of the oppressed Iranian masses. Since the Iranian regime came to power, there have been about twenty popular rebellions, caused by the US embargo, and political oppression and the terrible conditions that the regime imposes on the population.

The Iranian Revolution, actually born with an anti-imperialist intent, which overthrew the Shah in 1979, is now a distant memory. From the very beginning after the rise to power, the mullah government ensured that revolutionary demands by the workers or the redistribution of land by the peasantry were disregarded. The regime immediately put itself at the service of the great comprador bourgeoisie and the landowners, repressing the protests of the popular masses. Thus already towards the end of the 1980s, about 30,000 progressives, revolutionaries and communists, especially the Marxist-Leninists-Maoists, were exterminated. Since then, communism has been banned in the country.

Consequentiely that the calls of the Iranian regime to “anti-imperialism” are only purely formal references, functional to the expansionist strategy of the sectors currently hegemonic bureaucratic capitalism. Iran’s opposition to US imperialism, with which, however, it does not disdain to agree on certain issues, is accompanied by the fact that Iran finds itself today in a state of dependence of other imperialist powers such as France and especially Russia and China.

In Italy, some sectors (such as Proletari Comunisti-Pcm[1]), gave an indication of participation in the various demonstrations that took place in Italy, highlighting their way of doing that is essentially tail-ist and movimentist.

On the other hand, other sectors of the so-called “revolutionary left” have dismissed the question of the rebellions of the Iranian popular masses as expressions of a “colour revolution”, substantially supporting the government position, by legitimizing the repression of the reactionary regime and by siding with Russian imperialism and Chinese social-imperialism. These conceptions are based on a distorted view of anti-imperialism, essentially based on the “Three Worlds Theory” of Deng Xiaoping (in Italy reintroduced by the Losurdo circle) according to which the propulsive element of the anti-Imperialism is not the struggle of the popular masses and peoples, but the agreements and collaboration with bourgeois imperialist governments and powers.

As Nuova Egemonia, we argue that one of the fundamental contradictions of our time is the struggle of the peoples against imperialism and the great bureaucratic and comprador bourgeoisie at its service. So we can only support the struggle of the Iranian masses as an element that comes into contradiction with the different imperialist camps and that objectively moves in the direction of the tendency to proletarian revolution.

Through its fierce anti-communist repression, the regime has until now prevented this revolt from being led by a Marxist-Leninist-Maoist, expression of the proletariat and founded on a correct theory and instead allowing a part of the great local comprador bourgeoisie, in close connection with American imperialism, to exploit it in its favor.

In the current phase of the general crisis of imperialism that triggers the protest and rebellion of the peoples oppressed by imperialism and bureaucratic capitalism in Iran as in many other countries of the world only the popular war led by the party of the proletariat can bring a genuine democracy, a true peace and a real national independence. Without the leadership of a party founded on the guiding ideology of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism there is no real revolution, there is no escape from the exploitation of the reactionary classes or of one or another imperialist country.
