The International Communist League is an expression of the UNIFIED MAOIST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE. The list of parties and organizations that have signed the political document of constitution attests to the spread of the Communist League on an international scale [i].
It’s important to emphasize in particular the question of Maoism. The foundation of the Communist League represents an important step forward on the path of the struggle for the affirmation of Maoism as a guide for the construction of new type communist parties adapted to the task of promoting and leading the proletarian revolution world-wide.
The Communist League is today the only unitary and organized expression of the international Marxist-Leninist-Maoist movement. We are strongly convinced that this international centre will be able to realize the unity of all the effective Marxist-Leninist-Maoist forces operating internationally.
The foundation of the League is an expression of an ideological battle developed since the early 1980s for the full recognition and assumption of Maoism. This foundation follows the bankruptcy of the Revolutionary Internationalist Movement determined by the influence of centrism, right and “left-wing” opportunism.
The turning point made by the PCR(USA) in an openly critical sense against Marxism-Leninism-Maoism and against the so-called “New Synthesis” brought a series of parties and organizations that had previously referred to Avakian positions to distance themselves from the “New Synthesis” and Avakian itself. All this, however, has happened without a true self-criticism, without an effective development of the struggle between the two lines and without an effective assumption of the centrality of Maoism. The fractionist influence of these forces and other forces characterized by substantially similar positions still present within the Marxist-Leninist-Maoist movement continues to hinder the formation of a single Marxist-Leninist-Maoist organization on an international scale.
Regarding Italy, the foundation of the International Communist League objectively undermines the monopoly and the relative plumber cloak represented by the positions of the forces that until now have been set up as the only representatives in our country of the Marxist-Leninist international movement. The cracking of this cloak will certainly open the way to new developments favourable to the growth of the influence of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism in our country.
